Volunteer Trustee

This is an opportunity to help support a friendly organisation working with vulnerable young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.

Hillingdon Refugee Support Group is a small voluntary organisation with plans for future expansion of its services. It is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.

The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. We are particularly keen to recruit members of the local community in Hillingdon who have one or more of the following skills:

  • Experience of or knowledge of the issues faced by young unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers.
  • The voluntary sector
  • Fundraising
  • Education and Training

As a Volunteer trustee, you will ensure, with the other trustees, that the charity acts in accordance with its constitution and to manage its activities in furtherance of the objects set down in that constitution.

All Trustees will undergo a period of induction, aimed at familiarizing them with the

work of the Charity and their role as Trustees.

The role of Trustee is an unpaid voluntary position. Expenses incurred whilst volunteering can be claimed.

Board meetings are held every three months ( currently via zoom) at Key House in West Drayton, on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon between 2.00pm and 4.30pm.The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and policies of Hillingdon refugee Support group and guides and supports the Managing Director and her staff.
